One Year Placements

One-year placements are taken after students have successfully completed Part two of their study.

The purpose of a placement is for the student to undertake a sequence of tasks which will develop learning opportunities. Doc Placement Unit on CitySpace is used to ensure that students are adequately supported while on placements, guidelines are provided describing what needs to be done by each of the people involved in a placement.

Students are also assigned a Workbased Learning Advisor - who guides them through the British Computer Societies Professional Development Scheme and is the students main point of contact whilst they are on placement.

Placements often feed into students’ choice of final-year project many of which are done with the employer. Each year after graduation it's quite common for students to return to their placement employer.
