Graduate Apprenticeship for Students
The GA is a chance for students to gain another qualification on top of their honours degree. While on placement students taking the GA will be asked to document their placement to National Occupational Standards (NOS). This is a recognised standard across the IT industry.
Students are required to:
- Complete 2 key skill GNVQ units at level 3 or 4, and
- 3-4 Computer skill GNVQ units at level 3.
Students may be concerned that the GA will increase their workload while on placement. This is not the case as you will already be required to produce a work log and evidence for your placement whether you do a GA or not. The main and only extra work is in producing the evidence from your placement to show you have completed the requested tasks and matched your work to them.
