One-year Placements and the Professional Pathway
As a computing student at City you will have an outstanding opportunity to gain practical experience alongside your studies. Our schemes give you the chance to see for yourself how the technologies you are learning about are being used in organisations. A placement will let you develop your technical skills and business knowledge. It will help you understand the IT industry and learn about the career paths available.
On placement you will normally earn a salary. You can also expect to gain marketable skills, achieve better marks in your degree and in many cases have a job offer from your placement employer before you graduate.
We arrange two types of placement: a one-year placement, which usually start between July and October (and lasts for 12 to 15 months), and our innovative Professional Pathway placement, which enables you to combine employment (and earnings) with your studies. A Pathway placement will start after you have successfully completed your first year of study, or later if you choose.
